While on visit in Malta, Japanese star actor Mokomichi Hayami also had the opportunity to visit Meridiana Wine Estate to film part of a promotional feature for a popular Japanese Travel television program hosted by Mokomichi himself. We had the time to taste some wines and also talk about Maltese wine culture in general. More photos here.

Recently we had the great pleasure to host American actress and United Nations Women Advocate Meghan Markle at Meridiana Wine Estate for a winery show around and some wine tasting. Meghan is most known for her role as Rachel Zane on the popular TV Series SUITS. Meridiana Wine Estate has teamed up with celebrity Chef Sean Gravina and Fino to be part of the Sean Gravina’s Cooking Experience. At the end of each day of every cooking course, while the participants are enjoying the food they cooked together, they will also be enjoying some of our fine wines paired especially with the dish of the day. Meridiana Wine Estate’s Premium Red Melqart DOK is now also available in a 1500ml bottle. Produced from hand picked Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, Melqart has a deep, ruby-red colour; an aroma of ripe berry fruits with spiced notes; and a rich, blackberry flavour with silky tannins and a long finish. Only 140 numbered Magnum bottles of the 2011 vintage were made and they each come in a wooden presentation box.
Recently we had the pleasure to host the Honourable Roderick Galdes, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture at Meridiana, for a short show around of the estate. We would like to thank the Honourable Galdes for having found the time and for accepting our invitation, and also for his support to the wine production sector in Malta. Parliament Secretary Galdes was welcomed and shown around the estate by Meridiana Chairman Mark Miceli Farrugia and General Manager Karl Chetcuti.
A selection of Meridiana’s wines were served during a ‘Taste of Malta & its’ Fine Wines’ event held at the Maltese High Commission in New Delhi, India. The event was hosted by HE the High Commissioner John Aquilina in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority and Blue Marble Destination Services. The wines served were the Astarte DOK (Vermentino), the Fenici Rose DOK (Cab Sauv/Syrah) and the Bel DOK (Syrah). To see a few of the event photos please click here.
The 27th September marked the 18th and last day of this year’s harvest. Like every year we finished with the harvest 2014 with the picking of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. We would like to wholeheartedly thank our amazing employees and the group of dedicated pickers, without whom this year’s harvest wouldn’t have been such a success.
